•  The port is characterized by the following features:
• It has the shape of a gulf with seaward big depths, whereas the north part has a shallow bed and includes several small islands that contribute in decreasing the construction cost of breakwater.
• Land area of the port is sufficient to the expected future stages and logistics zone.
• It has an easy connection to main land and railway roads and the regional north coast road. The port is near the Dekheila steel factory, customs free zone and electricity plant.
• Water area is 2.74 km2 and land area is 3.20 km2.
